Terms of Use

Effective date: 30 August 2026

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Mindkraft, the life-gamification app available at mindkraft.life (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Mindkraft.

2. The Service

Mindkraft helps you track habits and activities, earn XP, level up, build streaks, plan your day, break goals into quests, run time-boxed commitments called Modes, and — if you choose to — add friends, compare progress on leaderboards, make a shared commitment (a "Pact"), or take someone on head-to-head (a "Versus Challenge").

The Service is currently provided free of charge. Features may be added, changed, or removed as it evolves.

3. Eligibility & your account

4. Your content

The activities, notes, quests, goals and other content you create in Mindkraft belong to you. You grant us the limited licence needed to store, process, back up and display that content in order to operate the Service — including showing the parts of it that the Privacy Policy describes to other users: your public profile, and your progress inside any Pact, Challenge or leaderboard you enter.

You can export your data at any time from Settings → Data. Reset All Data clears your account document; see section 8 of the Privacy Policy for exactly what it does and does not remove, and how to request full account deletion.

5. Acceptable use

Please don't:

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

6. XP, levels, Grit & virtual items

XP, levels, streaks, shields, badges and Grit are gameplay features only. They have no monetary value, cannot be bought, sold or exchanged for anything outside the app, and are not a currency, a security, or property. They may be adjusted — including retroactively — when balancing formulas change.

Several features stake Grit and can destroy it. A Stake, a Pact and a Versus Challenge each escrow Grit when you commit, and the outcome decides where it goes: a broken Pact forfeits the stake of both partners even if only one of them fell short, and a lost or forfeited Challenge hands the whole pot to your opponent. That is the mechanic, and it is stated plainly in the app before you commit. Grit lost this way is gone, and we do not restore it.

Mindkraft does not verify that a completion you log actually happened, anywhere in the app. Nothing you log is checked, and Grit has no value outside the app — that is a deliberate design decision, and it is why section 5 asks you not to fake completions rather than promising that faking them is impossible.

Custom rewards you define for yourself are entirely your own responsibility.

7. The social features

Adding someone by friend code is one-sided: it puts them on your list and tells them you did, and they may or may not add you back. A Pact or a Versus Challenge can only be started with someone already on your friends list, and both sides stake Grit.

What another user can see about you is set out in section 6 of the Privacy Policy. Read it before you enter a Pact or a Challenge. Notably, your public profile — display name, photo, friend code, level, XP, streak and category breakdown — is readable by any signed-in Mindkraft user, which is what makes friend codes work.

8. Not professional advice

Mindkraft is a motivation and habit-tracking tool. It does not provide medical, psychological, fitness, financial, or any other professional advice. Consult a qualified professional before making decisions about your health or wellbeing.

9. AI-generated content

Two features — weaving your map and composing a quest — send your activity and goal text to Anthropic's Claude Haiku model to generate suggestions. Section 4 of the Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is sent.

AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or simply unsuited to you. Treat every suggestion as a prompt to think, not an instruction to follow — particularly anything touching health, training load or diet. You decide what to accept into your own tree, and nothing is added without you accepting it. Usage of both features is rate-limited.

10. Notifications

If you grant notification permission, Mindkraft sends the reminders you configure and notifications about mode and social events — gifts, Pacts (including progress nudges), friend requests and Versus Challenges. You can revoke notification permission in your browser at any time; see section 2 of the Privacy Policy for what happens to the stored subscription.

11. Availability & changes

We work to keep Mindkraft fast and reliable, but the Service is provided on an "as available" basis. It may be interrupted, and we may modify or discontinue features — or the Service itself — at any time. Back up anything important using Export; the automatic restore point keeps only the most recent daily snapshot.

12. Termination

You can stop using Mindkraft at any time, and request deletion of your account by email. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that create risk for the Service or other users. Where reasonable, we'll give you notice so you can export your data. Grit held or staked at the time of termination is not refunded or converted into anything — see section 6.

13. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the effective date above and highlight material changes in the app. Continuing to use Mindkraft after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
